The point of these is to store energy from renewables whenever they are providing more power than the grid demands - otherwise the power would be wasted.

It’s a combination of very stupid/uninformed voters, and hardcore fascist voters who don’t care how bad their own lives get, as long as immigrants and trans people get gassed.
