I do this too, being able to use Arch’s packages while having Kinoite’s stability is a really, really nice combo.

Sarahto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a human behaviour you've never understood?English1·9 months agoI honestly used to be the same, the only reason I pushed through and built a tolerance is because I had strong salty food cravings when I started HRT. I was staying at a friends place and for salty all they had was a ton of spicy ramen packets, and I ate so much I got used to it, heh.
Sarahto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a human behaviour you've never understood?English2·9 months agoThe pain itself is a flavour! Different spices hurt in different ways, and if you can build up a tolerance, it can be a delicious flavour!
Sarahto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a human behaviour you've never understood?English10·9 months agoI don’t understand cheating either, but I come at it from the perspective of a queer polyamorous person. I think many people are capable of loving more than one person, but society tells us monogamy is the only ethical/viable way. My partners are totally fine with me sleeping with other people, and that’s because we have clear and open communication and trust. Why cheat when you can be poly or open?
I don’t understand why relationships are portrayed as such a burden in media. Why do people who don’t trust one another even get into relationships? Why do so many couples seem to hate eachother? Why do so many romance books have such a creepy power imbalance, do people want that? It’s all so confusing, and I’m glad I’m not apart of it.
Sarahto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a human behaviour you've never understood?English3·9 months agoI feel this a lot. Many criminals who have done wretched things at least have a comprehensible motivation, but littering? Cigarette butts in a nature reserve? It’s nihilism, solipsism. That honestly scares me more. I can grasp that some people’s care is misguided or distorted, but a lack of care at all? How do you even contend with that?
Sarahto Technology@lemmy.world•Peer-to-peer serverless decentralized social media protocol built on The IPFSEnglish3·9 months agoDeeply, deeply ironic that the developers claiming to “give control back to the people” won’t even let them chose their own profile picture.
Sarahto Technology@lemmy.world•Meta asks the US government to block OpenAI’s switch to a for-profitEnglish1·9 months agoI understand and support being for the abolition of copyright, but I don’t think it’s possible under capitalism. Artists need to eat, and food costs money under our current system.
The ownership of ideas and the ownership of a specific piece of art are different concepts, too. If artists could patent style, we’d all be breaking the law.
Sarahto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you feel about your content getting scraped by AI models?English14·9 months agoAs an artist, I feel the majority of AI art is very anti-human. I really don’t like the idea that they could train AI off my art so it may replicate something like it. Why automate something so deeply human? We’re supposed to automate more mundane tasks so we can focus on art, not the other way around! I also never expected every tech company to suddenly participate in what feels like blatant copyright infringement, I always assumed at least art was safe in their hands.
Public conversations though? I dunno. I kinda already assume that anything I post is going to be data-mined, so it doesn’t feel very different than it was. There’s a lot of usefulness that can come from datamining the internet theoretically, but we exist under capitalism, so I imagine it’ll be for much more nefarious uses.
Sarahto Technology@lemmy.world•Meta asks the US government to block OpenAI’s switch to a for-profitEnglish5·9 months agoDo artists not deserve the right to decide who profits from their art, even if it’s posted to the internet? Would it be ethical for me to sell posters of artwork I did not create without the artists permission?
Sarahto Programming@programming.dev•What are your favorite statically typed, compiled, memory safe programming languages?English17·1 year agoNot necessarily these days! With NativeAOT, C# can be compiled to machine code.
I thought about switching, but instead I uninstalled social media apps and started using it more like an e-reader/MP3 player/messenger. It’s worked pretty well! Been reading a ton in the last year. I may be addicted to fanfiction now though.
