It’s saying its name!
junkthiefto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What Fantastic (and Janky) Things Do You Do With Leftover Packaging?English3·1 hour agoI can think of anything, but because lots of packaging is cardboard, I’m reminded that Adam Savage has recommended cardboard and hot glue as a way to get into making props and cosplay and such! It’s such a low barrier to entry and really easy to work with, and surprisingly versatile. Even if you plan on using more robust materials in the future, it can be a cheap way to make a proof of concept
junkthiefto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why do, relatively, so few of you set an avatar for your profile?English20·7 hours agoLemmy is a place I prefer to be as anonymous as I can while still participating so I don’t set one for myself and I use voyager the vast majority of the time so I don’t see anyone else’s. I personally don’t find profile pictures/avatars add anything to the experience for me.
Katzenjammer kids! Why do I know this??
I love that Sandy is basically the unofficial mascot of this community

junkthiefto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Anti-snoring solutions that actually worked for you?English10·8 days agoA sleep study would probably be a good idea just to make sure you’re not stopping breathing while snoring - AKA obstructive sleep apnea. A sleep doctor may even have some other ideas like custom dental appliance or things other commenters and I aren’t aware of.
CPAP worked for me, dental appliance did not, nasal strips never worked
junkthiefto Technology@lemmy.ml•A year later, Apple Vision Pro owners say they regret buying the $3,500 headsetEnglish3·10 days agoI would add on that XREAL and Rokid also have similarly priced and specced AR glasses.
Also, if you want to get spendy, bigscreen beyond 2 is $1,200. It’s definitely an enthusiast device, but it’s still half the price of the Vision Pro
This seems funny, but what am I actually looking at here?

I’m fairly certain when folks say they’re tired of AI slop they literally mean they’re tired of AI slop.
Despite my previous comment… I’m not actually an expert 😁but that is my understanding - a distinctive whistle should work ! You’d want something that’s easy for you to do to repeatedly, on command when you see your crow buddies
I don’t want to dissuade you from cawing, especially if you enjoy it, but you don’t NEED to caw to make friends with a crow, just make an identifiable noise when you offer them treats to associate with you
junkthiefto Technology@lemmy.world•Industrial Light & Magic's Chief Creative Promotes AI Slop During His TED TalkEnglish48·12 days agoThis is ILM, though, considering what they’ve accomplished in the past with hands-on tools, for the current chief creative officer to embrace AI so wholeheartedly, and for the result to just be “animal crossed with animal”, it’s pretty disappointing
junkthiefto Uplifting News@lemmy.world•Manhunt underway for escaped prisoners (CBS)English2·13 days agoI don’t know if it’s my adblocker or if it’s because I’m on mobile but I’m not seeing a story. Or maybe you’re just confused and didn’t actually post a story?
Edit: ok, found the story…
the escapees, several of whom are facing murder charges or other violent charges.
This is uplifting?
junkthiefto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Decision paralysis? I built a browser game where 12 strangers decide for you in 3 minutesEnglish3·13 days agoNeat idea, but most question askers seem to be shoehorning their questions into the binary format instead of thoughtfully considering what the actual binary choice would boil down to. The low quality of questions makes me not want to participate in the jury duty option. I wish I had a suggestion- I’m sure you want to keep things simple and accessible
I do not, just passing along the concept. I catch his recorded live streams fairly regularly and I know that he’s mentioned cardboard + hot glue on multiple occasions, especially when “how do I get started?” type questions come up.
