  • I think you’re being very dismissive of what I’m trying to say. Hexbear is a space for Marxists and Anarchists, that’s a part of the rules. It doesn’t hide that at all, and good-faith visitors are welcomed even if they aren’t Marxists or Anarchists. The English speaking internet is overwhelmingly dominated by liberal narratives, so it’s genuinely nice to have a space for leftists. As a result, there is very little fighting, except for occasional instance drama.

I don’t see why a space made by Leftists for Leftists needs to be accomodating for people hostile to Leftists, or why enforcing those rules is tantamount to “fighting.”

  • I think you’re making the same error you’re trying to call out. Sorting through the flurry of insults, your core complaint is that Marxist-Leninists don’t see nuance. I think this is disingenuous, Marxism-Leninism has strong theoretical foundations that are logically consistent. Similarly, you flip from the strawman that “everyone that isn’t an ML is a fascist” to your own assertion that everyone is fascist, or at least it appears that’s your claim. I don’t really think you have a clear conception of what constitutes fascism, or if you do it isn’t readily apparent, same with Imperialism.

I think if you want to understand MLs more you could probably be served better by trying to work from an initial place of trying to understand why MLs think the way they do, rather than trying to come up with post-hoc justifications.

  • The thing with memes is that they can have a genuine impact on how people view something. People’s views are largely impacted by their exposure, as a general trend, and most people haven’t actually done the reading to see what the credit system in China even looks like. That leaves a large number of people believing in dystopian fantasies of widespread facial tracking and morality judging from cameras on every corner, despite the implausability of such a system.

  • Fair enough. However, I think it’s worth pointing out that the most vocal users of such iconography, when confronted with even the possibility that it may in fact be racist to depict a chinese man as a yellow bear (curiously, usually depicted wearing a red shirt, like the flag of the PRC), they tie themselves into frothing logical pretzels to defend their usage, rather than shifting to any other clearly non-racist yet still insulting caricature.

Note: absolutely not saying the author of Pooh was making anti-China iconography way back when, I am pointing out modern usage.
