tl;dr from the article:

What you need to know

  • The FTC is trying to stop Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard for almost $69 billion.
  • After having a preliminary injunction denied, the FTC appealed the decision to the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, appealing the decision and seeking injunctive relief.
  • The injunctive relief, which would’ve extended the existing temporary restraining order, has been denied.
  • Microsoft can legally acquire Activision Blizzard in the U.S. very shortly.

The laws are the problem here, the FTC’s legal case and legal argument was dogshit. The moral one isnt, but that solution lies with congress and they are gridlocked on actual anti competitive laws by corpo-suckers that are only 75% republican

Other countries around the world already approved this deal a long time ago.

The US has shown the most resistance.

We just shouldn’t allow any accquisition of any company above a billion net worth. It would solve so much.

I’m glad ActiBlizz employees will hopefully have a better working environment. Plus, I can play WoW again without supporting a human-sized scrotum. 😁

But the sheer size of Microsoft at this point is a bit alarming. It’s like watching Disney buying Marvel and LucasArts: a looming giant that will either fall or trample everything underfoot.

What does the UK’s rejection of the merger mean going forward now that the US has allowed it to pass?
