I’ve been trying to get into these decentralised social media platforms for a couple of weeks and it seems awesome! Anyone got some good meme pages(instances? Not sure of the lingo yet) to reccomend?

For some more specific stuff, there’s !egg_irl@lemmy.blahaj.zone and !traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns@lemmy.ca for trans memes; !linuxmemes@lemmy.world and !programmerhumor@lemmy.ml for Linux and programming memes respectively; and the !the_pack@lemmy.world for badass skeletons. Also, if you’re confused about terminology, an instance is basically the specific server you’re on. Since Lemmy (and other federated social media) is free and open-source, anyone can set up their own server with a unique URL (lemmy.blahaj.zone for this instance). Each instance then has its own communities, which are basically like subreddits. You’ll notice that some of the communities I linked are on other instances, though you can still subscribe to them from this one, since Lemmy is federated.
