I’ve really been memorized by deepin, but I feed into the fear of the actual distro and China blah blah. I honestly dont know, but figure better safe than sorry. So I’ve tried Ubuntu DDE and it look like ass… Maybe they’ve update it since. I tried installing it on my fedora 38 workstation and it didn’t play well. Issues with rendering and weird quirks. I think I may need the lightdm display manager idk. Anyway I hear manjaro has community maintained version. Are there any actual distros that run a nice working DDE? I hear this distro called extix has a very nice version, but that distro seems a bit unknown itself. Any advice is appreciated thanks

Personally I didn’t like Deepin and I didn’t really use it for long so I can’t say much about it. Anyway, it is part of the the extra repositories of Arch, so you can expect a current and maintained version.

It should be the same for other Arch based distros. Just stay clear of Manjaro. It should not be used by anyone.

Try arcolinux. It’s normal arch + packages you select + a pre-customized DE or WM

isn’t Garuda using Arch repos? how did it shit itself in one week? after installation Garuda and Arch should be indistinguishable. Also Manjaro has a history of shitting itself, but has been relatively stable lately (at least for me, although one of my systems did fail recently, can’t remember why though, I just switched back to arch on it).

They use the same repos but some update from Arco destroyed it couldn’t even fix from Chroot and Manjaro shat itself but it was the bootloader and it fixed it self after a day

I remember using Manjaro Deepin when I was first getting my toes wet in Linux many years ago. It was smooth and the UI was better than Windows even. Can’t remember why I stopped using it though maybe I got tired of it or the Manjaro/Deepin bugs.

Solus does ship with deeping, if you are into are consider arch itself or endeavor or manjaro, manjaro does ship with deeping out of the box.

Good to know! I officially gave up on the Fedora experiment last night and downloaded manjaro. Haven’t had the time to mess around just yet. And I’m interested in solus but also nervouse about about support, maintenance, longevity

If I’m being honest, if you can’t use deepin distro I wouldnt bother. Remixes are nowhere near in terms of quality

I can’t for the life of me setup DDE on fedora properly!!! I’ve tried numerous tutorials but it always ends up janky and not working!!! I’m simply looking to explore other distros that the same old KDE, gnome, and xfce…
