    Don’t worry, you’ll still get misgendered after coming out.

    But you’ll get gendered correctly the most by people who don’t meet you until after you’re out.

      Exactly. This is a callout to my past self who kept wishing she could transition without actually telling people. People generally won’t update how they refer to you unless you tell them, which is honestly better for everyone than assuming.

      • Some people might, but a lot of people can totally miss out. Did have one friend who thought I had already told them when I finally decided said something about it. At most, I think I made comments about how it would be considered more inappropriate for me to be topless than my brother. But I’ve made much more direct comments with others and they had no clue.

    Oof, you got me with this one. I’m visiting family for Memorial Day weekend, and the relentless misgendering is wearing on me. Tbf, I can’t blame them, because I haven’t come out to any of them yet
