Apukunapa Kutimuynin tells the story of Sisa, a young woman who is dragged to the center of an ancestral conflict when the Andean divinities return to claim their place in the modern world. Accompanied by Nina, the goddess of fire, she must avoid a spiritual and physical catastrophe. In this story, each human character is linked to a divinity: Peter with Illapa (Lighting Mass), Teresa with the Supay (God of the Underworld), among others. In turn, this conflict will take place in different parts of our country, including Lima, Cajamarca, among other important cities.

In addition to his role as co-director, Omar Vallejos was in charge of the research of iconography and symbolism of Peruvian cultures, with the aim of representing with respect and fidelity the religious and cultural elements that are part of the narrative universe. This research - which was also part of his master’s thesis in Japan - allowed the team to avoid superficial interpretations and authentically connect with the region’s roots.

The project seeks to recover forms of visual expression typical of Peru and South America, reinterpreted through the language of anime. According to its creators, the goal is to tell stories from and for Latin America, with a universal language that can excite audiences from all over the world.
