A while back, I stayed at a friend’s house and slept over on their guest bed. The sheet on it was like a double-layered sheet. It was super comfortable. It had an enveloping feel to it similar to a comforter, yet it was as thin as a sheet. I’m a hot sleeper so it was perfect for me.

Does anyone know what kind of sheet this is? I’d like to buy one for myself.

I think what you’re describing is a “duvet cover”. A “duvet” is a two part comforter with a bulky padded insert and a thin washable outer shell. There are a variety of types of duvet covers available in all kinds of different materials and many of them would essentially match your description of “two sheets sewn together” but they can also be significantly thicker and heavier weight materials, they still would be thin and won’t have the padding of a comforter though as that would be what the insert is normally for. The giveaway would be that there’s usually a zipper or button flap somewhere to insert the comforter insert into, and there are usually buttons or ties on the inside as well to keep the insert from bunching up.

You could just get one of those and skip the insert. I often sleep with just a duvet cover during the summer.

I mean, it might have just been an empty liner / cover for a comforter - those are essentially sheets that are sewn together so you can fit a comforter between them, so you can take the comforter out and wash the sheet cover occasionally and keep the comforter clean.

So maybe google “duvet cover” or “quilt cover” and see if that matches?

Are you not just talking about a fitted sheet and top sheet? I.e. the standard bedsheet setup?

Nope, a single “sheet” but it was kind of built like a blanket. Imagine two sheets sewn together, and that’s practically what it was.
