Local naming conventions preclude the use of “American” to mean Canadian. “North American” would be acceptable.
But what if I want to refer to someone from anywhere.on the americas, north, middle or south?
At least here, it would be conventional to say North American, South American, or Central American.
And what about the entirety of people on the american continents?

According to Duolingo it goes as “Ich spreche kein Deutsch”
I think the nicht goes after the verb in German. Technically does in English as well as you say “I don’t speak German” where “do” is the verb being negated
