The story revolves around Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body cyborg with exceptional skill in both cyber and conventional warfare. With the rank of Major, she leads the aggressive unit “Shell Squad” as they confront highly intricate and sinister crimes. With its realistic art style, the series’ narrative explores the fusion of humans and technology, delving into cyberpunk elements and philosophical themes, while deeply examining topics such as personal identity.
The series has been expanded into various forms including theatrical and TV animations, as well as games. Each of these adaptations offers its own unique story, interpretations, and expressions, distinct from the original manga.
This new series will be made by the studio Science Saru (Dandadan, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, The Colors Within, Inu-Oh, The Night Is Short Walk On Girl), directed by Mokochan (The Heike Story, Tatami Time Machine Blues, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and Dandadan) and written by Toh EnJoe (Godzilla Singular Point, Space Dandy).

GitS was the seminal manga of my formative years. We had many good and some not so great adoptions over the years, but I am pretty excited for this version. It looks quite close to the manga which is, imho, the best rendition of the concept.
I want to watch this so bad because I’m a sucker for anything Gits. But I will say this: the trailer doesn’t entice me at all.
It’ll admit that it’s a very low-content teaser, not a trailer. Just a bunch of background and reference art to whet the appetite. The series is still a long long way off.
Agreed, at first I was like: yet another reboot? But it looks like they haven’t even gotten to the point of developing a subtitle, so we don’t really know what it’s about.
