Summary
Fourteen states sued the Trump administration over Elon Musk’s role as head of DOGE, arguing his authority violates the Constitution.
The lawsuit, led by New Mexico, claims Musk wields unchecked power to cut agencies and budgets without Senate confirmation, making him a “principal officer” under the Appointments Clause.
Another lawsuit by USAID employees raises similar concerns.
Judges have already blocked some DOGE actions, but the White House defends Musk’s role as legal.
filed by New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez and officials from Arizona, Michigan, Maryland, Minnesota, California, Nevada, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii.
These 14 states
It’s quite encouraging how these states are all from different parts of the US, with different overall cultural values and political stances, yet they are all united on the same side in this.
I hope this is a good sign something might actually work out here, I really hope
Hoping to see my state added to the list, they’ve been filling suits on a lot of other issues as well, but sometimes seem to be a little delayed.
Come on Colorado!!!
How do we make this happen?
Calling the office of the Attorney General in your state would be a good place to start. Also contacting the people in your state’s houses of Congress as well as the ones at the federal level.
About fucking time! I’ve seen articles about criticizing and opposing DOGE, but I knew we wouldn’t see any real movement until they started getting blasted or slammed.
For once could one of these “blasting” articles be a slow motion video of Kentucky Ballistic shooting the person in question with a .950?
So anyway I started blasting.
Put him and his First Lady in jail already. For life. With no loopholes to get out.
No amount of monetary damage will so much as phase them.
Thats a nice dream. But out in reality there is presidential pardon
If my grandma were still alive and saw a grown man standing indoors with a hat on she would whoop his ass. And let’s not let her know that he’s a Nazi.
I had hopes Lemmy would be at least able to look at absolute polar opposite points of view, and as much as they may grate or cause irritation, see the humanity in these differing opinions.
That aside, and please correct me in as civil way as possible, all I see is the auditing of the governments books, an accounting practice that every business should undertake. To date I see that its clearly obvious, as in the billions found thus far, that there is a clearly mismanagement of funds.
Why does this upset so many people?
Because it’s not accounting, it’s systematic gutting of bodies that prevent them or their friends doing things.
“Auditing” an entity doesn’t usually involve shutting down said entity indefinitely pending the audit which never comes, while the “auditor” makes copies of every bit of data you have for later abuse.

Thank goodness too since the IRS tends to audit non-wealthy people far more often than wealthy people. Imagine freezing some poor working person’s bank accounts because they were randomly chosen for an audit and some sort of red flag came up.
all I see is the auditing of the governments books,
I didn’t realize you needed total access to the U.S. Treasury and other government computer systems in order to audit the books. Can you explain why that would be necessary?
Also, can you explain why IT people in their late teens and early twenties are the right people to audit anything?
Counter argument: there is always government funds used inefficiently, there is always accounting practices that can be improved upon, a government system with perfect efficiency or is completely free from economic corruption does not exist. This simple matter of fact is NOT a justification of giving an individual, who’s not an elected governmental official and does not represent the interest of the nation and its people, the authority and power above the entire government, against the constitution.
Am audit does not take two days and is performed by BigBalls.
