The only middle to meet at is a middle finger. The only steps to take are towards retribution until they understand the concept of a social contract.
If we agree on what the long term ideal outcome looks like but not on the best path to get there, no problem. If our ideal vision of the future differs so much that in yours, my ability or right to exist as myself is challenged or denied, then conversation becomes almost impossible, IMO.
