Man, people sure like a dogpile.

The movie was on in 11 theatres in the US. It was never a wide release. Small indie films are often financed on pre-sold distribution rights anyway. The movie did the festival rounds and is on Amazon Prime Video and other streaming services, it was probably fine for them, if clearly not a career booster for most involved.

I get that people don’t realize how many movies are made worldwide that pretty much nobody watches outside festivals, but I promise you it’s a lot more than you think.

Yeah, I saw that, but I was going off what got quoted in the articles that keep getting posted today. Maybe the article is only considering opening weekend? Don’t know that, but I do know $235 is funnier than $4404.

$4404 contains 404 though, i.e. 404 Error: Profit Not Found, which makes me chuckle.

#Box office receipts are not an indication of the movie quality.

Box office is a combination of how many theaters it was played in and how much marketing is behind it.

This is a bit misleading, it was only in 11 theaters before going to streaming so it can’t be compared with a standard wide release film. Like Bird Box was a massive hit for Netflix but you could say it only sold a few tickets (because it only appeared in a couple theatres)

And this apparently was a movie with both Jessica Biel and Alfred Molina, crazy
