No, antivaxxers, anti-worker propaganda, climate change and fucking antisemitism aren’t “mildly infuriating”, this shit is fucking enraging.

Absolutely, I think one of the small perks that come with moving out of Reddit is being able to create your own communities as you see fit.

Kinda. If your sub on Reddit ever gets to a certain popularity you will be forced to fall in line with the beliefs of the head corpos or you will or be ousted and replaced by an in house puppet.

We all saw what happened last month

Antivaxxers are literally dangerous, if platformed - I personally and indirectly know people who very nearly accidentally killed themselves with that stupid bullshit - still might, actually. “Here to be contradicted” is a nice, optimistic thought. It doesn’t work though: this is not reasoned debate with reasonable people. They are the pigeon on the chessboard.

Of course they are. I personally only feel that the only tragedy to an antivaxxer getting run down in a parking lot would be if the driver didn’t immediately shift into reverse and repeat the process.

However, the ultimate price we pay to shut these idiots up is too high. If we continue to adress them with the scorn and lack of respect they deserve, they tend to go away on their own.

The only danger they pose is to themselves and the witless.

Having said that, they can be really boring and monotonous. Their arguments are gormless at best, and don’t have the intelligence to know when their vacuous arguments have been shot between the water line.

Will they learn anything. Nope. They are immune to intelligence (see what I did there?).

Dude. You figuratively just walked into a public library and shouted “HAVE YOU GUYS TRIED MOVIES? THEY ARE WAY BETTER THAN BOOKS!!!”

And then to top it off, when you got shushed, you followed up with “HELP HELP! I’M BEING OPPRESSED!”

It doesn’t matter how many people agree that movies are great, it’s not the time or the place for that.

I understand that you don’t think that OP should complain about posts that don’t belong in a community dedicated to ONE VERY SPECIFIC THING.

If I go to the Lego store and it’s full of lingerie, I’m hoping to be confused, check where I am, and then say, “Why do you guys keep stocking underwear instead of Lego?”

“OH MY GOD! STOP CENSORING ME! I LIKE LINGERIE AND THAT’S MY RIGHT! IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT, QUIETLY GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND BE ANTI UNDERWEAR YOU FASCIST!!!”

Ok, that’s fine, but this is a LEGO store.

I’m trying to explain why everyone is tearing you apart for your comment. Neither the time not the place. I’m sorry, but if you can’t understand, you’re just going to keep looking stupid.

I think OP is complaining about a subreddit being filled with off-theme stuff.

Mildly infuriating is like the fact Ikea doesn’t put sporks in their silverware sets when it’s clearly the best utensil.

He’s saying people are mis-using the subreddit.

I don’t think anyone is offended or “getting all triggered” (projection, maybe?), I think OP is annoyed that the community isn’t properly moderated (and I share that annoyance). Moderator action only became “oppressive” when we had centralised social media; in the old days of forums if you didn’t like the moderators you just made your own forum, you’d complain about the old moderators but to complain about “oppression” would be laughable because they can have their website and you can have yours. Thankfully both OP and I have that option - if what the people here want is low-quality off-topic crap then that’s what they can have, I could make my own mildly infuriating if I cared enough, and if others wanted they could go there - it’s totally democratic.

I mean, not to rain on your metaphor but they’ve had movies at my library for like thirty years. They just got a board and video game collection too. I recommend checking out your local libraries again if you haven’t done it in a while.

      Sounds good to me.

We all make choices about the company we keep.

I choose not to hang out in biker bars because for me a motorbike is a form of transport and really not interesting to talk about. I get really bored.
My brother is a bike enthusiast with the tattoos etc and he can go on about bikes…

Mildly infuriating: calling this place a “sub”, which is short for “subreddit”. On Lemmy it’s a “community”.

The great thing about fedi is you can make your own MildlyInfuriating and mod it how you’d like. If enough people feel the same way it will grow.

Apparently there needs to be a “MildlyInfuriatingNonLinuxProblems” too.

Every other post is someone complaining about Microsoft/Apple products. Like Geez I hate them too but shit half of these aren’t even real problems, you just want to complain about every little thing.

Just from the name I’d say it’s the opposite. Antiwork is a community/movement opposed to capitalist exploitation of workers. Anti-worker propaganda is propaganda which is against workers. Saying they’re lazy, incompetent, don’t deserve increased pay etc.
