Unfun fact: the song was originally called Suicide, but the record company nixed it, hence the similar sounding but nonsensical title.
It’s about one of Serj’s friends dying from an overdose and the line “I cry when angels deserve to die” is about people saying that addicts dying from overdoses (whether intentionally or accidentally) “brought it on themselves” rather than empathizing with someone who was in pain and didn’t get the help they needed in time.
One of my kids loved chop suey until they worked out it said that, then now wants to skip it every time.
Honestly I’m surprised that was the reason they don’t like it, and not because I used to blast it in the morning to wake them up.
I used to wake up my younger brother like that. Id connect to his Roku and start the edit that says nothing but “Wake up!”
