Agricultural high school, and one presumes these are the star athletes of the school, so it’s the top strata of farmer’s boys who are getting an education to go on, themselves, to be farmers. And farming is pretty, uh, physical work.
He was a good baseball player apparently. I wonder how he was on the basketball court.

Interestingly enough, one of Castro’s core platforms was fair treatment to the Afro-Cuban minority, and great progress was made in this area during the 60s and 70s. Unfortunately, like many situations so ‘addressed’ by governments throughout history, at one point, the Cuban government decided it was ‘solved’, and needed no further attention, when in reality… well, such battles take many generations to wage and win.
