this was a while ago, so i forgot the sub, but the mod of it permabanned me for speaking russian because “he and his friends didn’t like my culture.” i ranted about this in another sub, but i quickly became shadowbanned. eventually, i was permabanned from Reddit as i apparently violated a rule and harassed a guy? I didn’t even put the guys username, nor do I remember it—it was definitely generated by Reddit tho.
of course, it’s been a while ago, so I don’t want anyone to actually do anything, but this is more of a genuine question rather than “I have his username and all his details: I want him banned.”
Officially, sure. He discriminated against Russians, and national origin is a protected group, so he’s “promoted hate”.
Realistically, this is older, reddit is biased, and they might not even look into the claim since you’re banned anyway, they might assume it’s a retaliation thing and move on. If they do look into it, they might just give them a warning.
But on paper, if that’s all that was said about why you were removed, yeah, that warrants reddit taking action.

Your best bet is making a ticket with their support team and addressing the issue clearly and concisely.
Meanwhile you get to hangout with us.
I don’t think there’s much you can do in that situation with Reddit besides create a new account.
You’d probably get ignored if you reached out to some support team and creating a new account to call out this individual would probably get you banned for either harassment or circumventing a ban. I also wouldn’t recommend the latter for ethical reasons. Shouting out specific people over a screw up can bring a disproportionate amount of attention to the situation.
Hmmm, best best would be to stop speaking Russian. Even if it doesn’t get you outright banned, it’ll lead a lot of people to thinking you’re a qwar
what’s a qwar? I’ve never heard that word
