Montana Governor Greg Gianforte denounced the ruling, arguing in a statement that it would lead to “perpetual lawsuits that will waste taxpayer dollars and drive up energy bills.”
If there’s one thing you can count on Republicans for, it’s obstructing anything that will help a broader scope of people than just rich Republicans.
Justice Jim Rice offered the lone dissent, arguing that the plaintiffs lacked standing because the constitutional violations they cited were “theoretical” rather than “concrete” or “impending.”
I mean, I didn’t look up Justice Jim Rice’s political leanings, but any so-called Justice who would claim that the generation of currently living people who will bear the brunt of the effects of climate change has no standing to bring suit because the impacts were “theoretical” rather than “concrete” or “impending” has shoved their head deep into the sand and chosen to ignore the reality that the world is no longer the same as it was when they were born. Clearly a Republican.
Edit - peeked now at his wikipedia page - you won’t be surprised.
