Just remember to steal from the capitalists, not each other. I really don’t want to lose a third bike…

Someone smashed up my really nice bike recently. I had it parked in Melbourne’s inner west. I suspect it was due to spite because of wealth inequality. Thing is I’m not wealthy, I just got it at an auction for a bargain. I’ve never owned a car, and wanted to get a nice bike for the first time, in my 30s. Now I feel I can’t even have that one nice thing in public.

Very similar thing happened to me actually, now I’m just living on an old abandoned bike I fixed up that no one will ever want to steal.

I’m sorry yours was taken, it’s a surprisingly painful thing to have your transport suddenly ripped away like that. Do you have a bike that you can use at the moment? I can probably help you get a new one if not, no guarantees of quality though.

Oh it didn’t get taken, just vandalised. I had it locked up. I got it fixed up at a bike store. It’s just annoying to have to worry about it even though it’s locked up. People will just wreck stuff because they’re angry. Thank you for the offer though, very kind.

Oh my bad. Damn though, that’s actually wild, I’m glad you got it fixed

    No shit, Sherlock.

Disenfranchise the entire working class, push them beyond the brink of self-sufficiency, demean them for their status in life…

What do you expect to happen? If people can’t afford to live, they’re going to lash out at the society they see as having abandoned them.
