OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is planning to make a $1 million personal donation to President-Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration fund, joining a number of tech companies and executives who are working to improve their relationships the incoming administration.

    From Trump’s point of view, this is his new subjects lining up to pay tribute.

    From the perspective of the wealthy people making these donations, it’s like stuffing a twenty dollar bill in the doorman’s breast pocket.

      From everyone else’s point of view it’s also his new subjects lining up. There’s no reason to excuse these companies regardless of what percent of the bottom line a million dollars is.

            I hope to try out a local rig I have that I once used for mining a little bit and then later for folding@home - but I need more disk space on there. That host has the tiniest drive on it - 128G. Once I solve that problem, I hope things like ollama can make use of the cards I have in it…for now, I’m using a 2022 macbook and it seems to do okay-ish with some models anyway.

            I hope I never have to give one red cent to the likes of Altman.
