President-elect Donald J. Trump’s team will have some formal briefings with outgoing staff members, but it has so far refused to allow the F.B.I. to do security clearances for transition members.

Very likely because much of their team can’t pass a background check, and they know it.

The fact that these aren’t hard requirements in our modern society is inexcusable.

If there’s anything his Administrations have shown, it is that WAYYYYY too much of our government operates on gentleman’s agreements and norms, not actual rules and requirements.

Laws can only do so much. The founders knew that. They are just words and paper.

We the people chose this. Why and how are moot. We didn’t hold our leaders accountable. Now, we see how far Trump will go, because there are no actual checks on his power. He can literally drag Congress members into the street and shoot them without consequences. And half the country will cheer.

Only liberals believe laws and rules should be followed. Fascists do not believe this, but they’re happy to play along and pretend they do until liberals give them all the power.

Why did Biden not make all these “rule of thumbs” into law at some point? Does that need to be done by house/senate which would have been killed by Republicans?

        1. Because presidents don’t make laws, so yes congress would need to pass new legislation. Depending on what you mean by “rules of thumb”.
        2. Because many of these are not rules of thumb but actual regulations. E.g. without the FBI clearances classified information can’t be shared and without an agreement with the GSA they can’t get office space or logistical support (as the article notes).

I’m curious what you are thinking of when you say “rules of thumb(s)”

I mean… just do it anyways. Investigate them. They might refuse to sit down for interviews but dig up what you can. Hack them if you can, the American people deserve to know what skeletons these weirdo’s have in their closets.

Yes, since when does the FBI need permission from a non-president? Until he sits in the chair the upcoming regime should have nothing to say against legit investigations.

When RFK was asked by a journalist recently about his sexual assault allegations, he responded- “I said in my announcement speech that I have so many skeletons in my closet that if they could all vote, I could run for king of the world.”
