this is probably a bug due to my world being created in 1.16, but this terrain being generated in 1.21. i used an ocean explorer map to find the monument, and that map was also created in 1.16.

A Minecraft screenshot of a player holding an ocean explorer map. It is barely explored, however we can see that there is a big blue square surrounding the monument, and that the outline of the unexplored terrain does not match the outline of the explored terrain.

even the map doesn’t line up! i’m guessing it follows what the terrain would’ve looked like in 1.16?

Super interesting – have you tried the same seed, but generated in 1.21? I’m curious what it ends up being

using the same seed in 1.21 just has a normal plains biome in these coordinates unfortunately

I tried it in 1.16 too, and as i expected it has an ocean monument in those coordinates, but it’s in an actual ocean now!

The outline visible on the map also doesn’t seem to fit reality. Interesting glitch - I wonder how this came into existence - maybe the ocean monument chunks were calculated the moment the map was created but nothing around it was.

      its 2092571018 at the coordinates -2251, 65, 1853

but like I said it’s an artifact of an old world being converted to newer versions, if you generate it in a new version straight away this won’t happen
