I’ve played more hours of The Long Dark than any other video game in my entire life. Steam seems to cut their playtime data after several years so I don’t have an exact count, but it’s easily over 1000 hours in this game and it’s still the game I’ll go to first if I know I have more than just a few hours of free time.

Pirated the game before I bought it. I have 350 hrs in TLD on Steam but I surely played double that time. To me it’s the perfect survival game. No cannibals, zombies et cetera, just the cold wilderness. I’ll get the DLC when next winter kicks in.

I’ve been playing since 2017, not nearly that many hours but I dabbled in survival and have now done the story a few times. The challenges are fun too, I hope they do a special one for Halloween this year!

Oh gosh, I always had such bad luck with this game. :D Never finding any useful loot and then getting killed by wildlife.

One time I rolled my ankle (damn carry weight!) and that made me walk too slow to get home before the blizzard came in 🥶

I think story mode has a nice balance of loot, also if you okay on easy the wolves will be scared of you 😂

I LOVE The Long Dark, but I do wish they’d have different seasons if you survive long enough. Something tells me that even summer would be no picnic on that island with the crazed wildlife and geomagnetic storms. Maybe for a sequel someday?

Also I admit that I like playing non-story games with the wildlife turned down to mimic more reasonable behaviors. Then it really does become more of you against the elements, rather than you against crazy wolves. @_

LOL I accidentally put story mode on easy so now the wolves run away from me. Now my biggest threat is my weak ankles on slopes!
