Anything can be a slur if used right umm wrong?

I try to look behind the words at intent and tone.

Sadly that’s very difficult when written in short form statements lacking context

I have a feeling that the people that think “cis” is a slur just don’t understand what it means, or are outright transphobic.

I recently had a guy admit he might be transphobic because he “prefers actual women”, and later uttered the sentence “maybe women don’t like to be called ‘cis women’?” and like, dude, it’s just an adjective that means the opposite of trans. But how dare we imply that trans women are women?!

In the end, treating cis / cisgender as a slur is yet another way to attack trans people.

They think cis is a slur because they treat trans as a slur

Even if some queerfolk use cis in a snide way (which, ok, let’s see it?), it’s totally invalidated as a slur by the power imbalance. Cisfolk are not being hurt, losing jobs, or otherwise being discriminated on in the same way that real minorities are with their slurs and discrimination.

Saying “cis” is a slur is like saying “cracker” is a slur, but even more ridiculous.
