For real though, murder is way rarer and victims aren’t suffering anymore

    Also, I guess sexual assault victims are oftentimes secretive about it and can (even though it’s not right) feel ashamed about it

      Yep. Making a rape joke and a rape victim hearing it is way more likely than a murder victim hearing your murder joke.

    You can make both kinds of jokes, but you have to know your audience. Making murder jokes in front of a grieving family might not be the smartest move, same as joking about rape.

    Plus usually when someone pisses me off in traffic, my thought is “hope this guy dies” and not “hope that guy gets raped”— what kind of psycho makes rape threats ---- wait, nevermind.
