    Hmmm…eloquent today, aren’t we?

Since The Mongoose loves all his visitors, let me do your homework for you, @spaduf@lemmy.blahaj.zone!

I personally don’t subscribe to this service, but their selection of movies definitely smells of !moviesnob@lemmy.film. Although they claim exclusives on certain films, I don’t know how much overlap there is between the rest of the Mubi library and the other streaming services. Plus the library seems pretty fresh, lots of independent films, they do original articles, they’ve got a seemingly active member community…

What I found fishy was here they list films that aren’t in their library currently (such as Almodaovar’s latest, Extraña forma de vida or Nolan’s currently playing Oppenheimer). What’s that all about? Will they be part of Mubi’s exclusive library or not? Before Netflix/Prime/Whatever? Ugghhh…streaming.

Don’t know if it’s the same in your part of the planet but they’re offering me a seven-day trial offer, after which they have two different plans. I say if you love cinema and have USD$8-12 a month burning a hole in your pocket, I think you could do worse.

I always end up taking their el cheapo offer, forgetting to unsubscribe and get charged their normal rate, ask them to cancel it, then repeat the same when there’s an even more ridiculous no-brainer deal months later (like 3 months for $4 or something).

Almost always, I end up forgetting I’m signed up to the service and only getting to watch about 1 film or nothing at all. I can probably count in my hand the number of movies I was able to watch there since 2019: Ema, Primer, Fantastic Planet, Perfumed Nightmare, Knife + Heart, There Will Be No More Night, and The Wolf House.

    That’s it. That’s the list.
