I think the better move would be to unprivate r/Piracy after 48 hours, but restrict posting and leave a link to this community. I think everyone would agree we’re no r/aww or r/funny.

The Piracy subreddit has always been a thorn in Reddit’s side, and it’s a miracle we were able to exist in the first place. It’s a very visible space on a highly public website, it’s not “underground” like most of the piracy community is. It helps people new to piracy understand the do’s and don’t’s, and the wiki helps people have a quick reference on what sites they can use without getting a virus.

I do think the piracy sub will be one of the next targets, it’s only a matter of time. If the sub further restricted itself in anticipation and sent people here it would be able to sustain itself a lot longer.

This is a particular topic that people will be more open to seek out and put slightly more effort for.

The NewYuzuPiracy subreddit got the banhammer today, so it definitely could be coming.

Also, this is my first comment on Lemmy!

Or the opposite. It would give admins a reason to ban the sub for spam / advertising of competition.

Stash it all somewhere or migrate it here if possible, then torch the place. Users will follow the content, if the /r/piracy userbase all move somewhere else, then that platform will grow and we won’t have to put up with reddit anymore.
