I have literally been playing with players on my ARK:SA server for the past few months, with them on Discord through their PS5. Their discord name has a PS icon next to it and everything. Is there something here maybe different than what already existed?
I think this news site is maybe misinterpreting this line of the patch notes into thinking the voice chat itself is a new feature
You can now start or join a Discord voice chat directly from your PS5. Open Game Base in the control center and select the Discord tab to access your servers and direct calls.
It’s been possible to use Discord voice chat on PS5 for a while now, but you had to join the session from the mobile app first and then hand it over to the PS5. Now you can join a VC directly from the PS5.
Looks like despite the version number indicating this came out in April, it is a new version. Sony is promoting it too https://youtu.be/wJQehypOr5E

Yep, I asked one of my players about it, this is it for sure. They didn’t add Discord Voice Chat support…
They added DIRECT log-in-and-chat-from-the-console support. Apparently it was previously a weird mobile app thing.
