I noticed the new betas have the ability to upload video clips. I think this has been a huge missing feature that Reddit and other social media platforms have

Do you think so? I usually use gifs from catbox.moe, it’s pretty reliable as a hosting platform, I’m not sure having videos uploaded directly to Lemmy would be that much of a change

            On iOS as well.

Funny enough, that one worked for me, both in Voyager and safari. But a vast majority of gifs from catbox.moe don’t work for me as well. The issue appears to be intermittent (as opposed to something to do with the file or link format). So this one loading for me was probably just a “lucky” click.

Aah, sad to hear. Might be indeed, now I get why pictures posts work better than gifs

I’ve had issues with catbox, specifically it doesn’t convert videos if they’re incompatible with your browser. Firefox doesn’t support H.265 for example.

That’s strange, I always check the gifs in catbox, they always play. Do you see the example I listed below?

Yeah, that one does. I think it’s very dependent on what’s been uploaded.

They might even have fixed it now.

I mean, gifs will always play, they’re from like 1995. H265 is a whole newer and noticeably heavier thing.
