    Hello,

    Good luck with your community.

Out of curiosity, why did you choose lemmy.world to host it? I know you are pretty active on communities on feddit.uk and other instances, so I was a bit surprised.

Fait question, as I am an Admin on feddit.uk.

My thinking is that I try and keep the communities I start on feddit.uk to UK specific ones or ones that have a UK angle. If it’s more general, like sleep paralysis, I will put it on lemmy.world as the largest general instance (for example: !categoryiii@lemmy.world). If it was on a specific topic I might fish round for an instance that covers the topic (no film or Star Wars instances are holding me back from that at the moment).

        I see.

I follow more or less the same logic, but still try to keep communities on other generalist instances (lemm.ee, sh.itjust.works), as the centralization of Lemmy on LW is detrimental from a performance perspective: https://lemmy.world/post/13967373

Yes, I should spread the love a bit more but currently only have a l.w alt. If a film focused instance started, I’d probably move some communities off here to there, as long as I was sure it was here to stay (the last one went down when the person running it disappeared).

Yes, that’s still sad to this day
