Edit - Hexbear announced plans to deferedate from us.
==
After recent events, it feels to me that sentiment has shifted and more people are asking for defederation of hexbear than previously
I’ve been doing my best to try and mend bridges and keep us connected, as it’s my hope that we can maintain trans solidarity and work with them, despite the friction, however, ultimately, I feel that this is an issue for the blahaj lemmy community to decide, not the admins alone
So here’s what we’re going to do
We’re going to leave things as they are for a week. That will give time for things to calm down whilst we see if we can work together. After a week, I’ll put up a vote and get a feel for where the community is at in regards to our continued federation with hexbear. That poll will run for a week. If there is a strong will to defederate (a clear majority), then that’s what we will do

Yea, but that shouldn’t have to be said. Like it seems like basic courtesy to me.

Hey, that was me, and I fucked up. That was not a brigading post. That was me wanting to talk about what people were saying about us on our instance. We just have a rule to link to the source and I did that without thinking about the implications. I understand that makes me short-sited, I understand it makes me dumb. I do feel bad about what it caused and I did apologize.
I get that. And appreciate the honesty.
I also think my initial post came off as inflammatory when I genuinely didn’t mean it to. Coming from the rest of the Fediverse and then suddenly seeing hexbear was a huge culture shock. I think a lot of people took umbrage with my comparing the vibes to t_d, seeming to think that doing any comparison to that dumpster fire was me being a jackass. It was honestly the only other place I encountered the same kind of things that I saw happening in several threads. It reminded me of being in r/traaaaa and getting brigaded by t_d folks that were just posting intentionally inflammatory things, “dunking” on trans folks there, and just generally being assholes.
I also appreciated Ada saying “hey we want to try to stay federated with them, they’re super queer friendly”, which lent some context to the decision.
