more than 25% of my active users are lgbtq. i have no reason to doubt the other mbin instances dont have similar numbers, and ive certainly never heard of anti sentiment on them through various channels.
you literally asked for opinions. i gave you mine. theres nothing dismissive about my answer.
Hi there. While the other user responded to your comment here, I’d appreciate it if you’d let it go as well. Seems like you’ve given the best answer you could to the question, which is awesome. Sometimes things go wonky despite that. Don’t know if you even intended to respond further, just trying to settle things out in case it might turn into a long kerfluffle.
This part is just because lemmy doesn’t have the richest tools yet, but I’m asking as a mod, not as a random user.
Adding … at the end of your answer is dismissive. You can answer questions without snark.
Do not think for a second queer-people don’t have a right to be suspicious with new places especially with how many times throughout history they were betrayed.
I assume it could feel equivalent to a rhetorical pause that implies that should know better or something along those lines, which can feel dismissive. It’s not always dismissive to use … though
Your response is dismissive when not everybody is as closely aware of the platform as you’re.

Hey, let’s keep things friendly here. There’s no indication they were doing anything other than responding in good faith.
I’m going to ask them to end the exchange here as well. Near as I can tell from a mod standpoint, you’ve both said all that’s useful to say.
Hi, I’m a bystander. Can you explain why the trailing “…” is dismissive, or what it even means in the context of text based discussions?
I’ve seen it before but I’ve never known what to make of it. Thanks!
