The reason that insecure men fear and feel shame over the prospect of a wayward boner is that they’re afraid that sexuality is some sort of absolutist thing, such that the least inclination toward the same sex immediately removes them from the “straight” club forever.
It became explicit when, much to my surprise, someone responded to essentially argue that same position.
