Oh of my goals this year was to learn to draw. I started following a tutorial in January, a learn in 30 days book. I’m taking it at a leisurely pace, I’m on lesson 20 of 30. The progress is there but I still have a long way to go before I’m drawing anything A"good".
Good on you, don’t pressure yourself, you have nothing to prove. The mechanical side of drawing is nothing but practice and patiently training your hand, eyes and brain to communicate the way you want them to. Look into Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain for a theoretical approach to how to look at and think about what you’re drawing.

And yeah, a BA in Fine Arts absolutely killed my wife’s enthusiasm for art so I’m definitely keeping it strictly to “when I feel like it”.
