I came to a post on this community where a user said that a certain community was zionist. But their comment was really long and I wasn’t sure if it had been removed for that or something else. So I wanted to test it myself.
I went to that community and posted something that’s only offensive to zionists. My post was pro-jewish and anti-zionist, so there was no way to confuse it as meaning something else. I wanted to see what would happen. Either it would get removed for zionist reasons, get removed for other reasons, or stay up. That would answer my question. It got removed because the mod said they felt rage baited. That answered my question. I linked the post and the modlog here as evidence, to share my findings. Now everyone knows for sure whether that community is zionist.
What I wasn’t expecting is Ada’s response. She said in the modlogs she also felt the post was rage bait. I didn’t see that coming because I didn’t think Ada was a zionist. I thought she would be fine with seeing zionists get angry, because they get angry over the most mild things.
Is Ada supporting zionism?
And that’s the issue.
From a new account, with no discussion history on the topic that I could find, with no previously removed posts, it looked inflammatory, and it was, deliberately so. So you got a short term ban.
If you’d been a long term user, or had a posting history that made it clear you were trying to demonstrate a point, I’d have left your account alone. But as it was, I couldn’t tell you apart from a troll. I wasn’t certain, which is why it wasn’t permanent.
Trolls don’t make zionists angry. They make good people angry. If trolls made bad people angry, then trolls wouldn’t be so bad.
Good girls make zionists angry. Good girls go to protests and boycott bad companies and speak out against bigots who make Mummy cry.
I think you’re missing a fundamental point Ada is trying to make here. She doesn’t necessarily disagree with the point you’re making, but with the way you’re making it, because it inevitably would increase her workload of rule-breaking comments by “bad people” that she’d have to remove.
No, it didn’t. Three reasons why:
Ada was never in danger of having extra work because of that post.
I have terrible news for you.
People on the internet will argue about anything, regardless of whether it makes sense or not. I get that you’re trying to stir up a specific type of person, so you can antagonize them, and I respect that, but you can’t assume anything you say will go uncontested.
It’s smart to pick the fight you want to have, but you don’t even have to try that hard. And there will be lots of places on the internet where people, even ones who agree with you, aren’t trying to see reminders of the kind of stupid shit that exists in this world. That’s okay! You can’t spend every minute of your day engaging with assholes like your post might have attracted! It’s bad for the long-term health.

I didn’t try to stir them up. I tried to get proof of whether the europe mod is zionist. I got proof. Emotions weren’t important. Only ada thought it was important how the zionist feels.
You’re a Blahaj user, she has a responsibility to moderate your posts and comments according to the instance rules no matter where you post. Hence why any reports on your comments go to your instance admin, as well as the community moderators and the instance admins of the community.
This is how things run on the fediverse to more equally share the load of moderation around. Instances that refuse to do this labour for their own users end up shunned, such as Hexbear refusing to rein in the actions of its own users.
I didn’t post anything that needed to be removed. Anti-zionism doesn’t need to be removed.
