    How is this usually presented and how is this different? I’ve seen this referenced many times with conclusions that sound very similar to my non-scientastic layperson’s brain.

      “ThIs PrOvEs We LiVe In An OlIgArChY” is how the people inluding the BBC misread the paper. What Gilens et al demonstrated was that the policy desires of the top 20% were more likely to be fulfilled which is fundamentally different than being an oligarchy.

      While the USA is gunning for oligarchy now that wasn’t the case for the time period the study covers nor is it a position they took.
