    I mean that’s easy enough to say. However, a lot of trans people wouldn’t have had access to the medical needs for their transitions without having served in the military. Those benefits go a long way. Many would have had no other options to be able to pursue their transition.

        Absolutely. I am just saying “no queers should serve in the military” is an unhelpful thing to say when, up to now, it was a viable path for the otherwise destitute to persue transition.

      what i’m reading is that being joining the military as a trans person is a hack to get medical care. that’s universally true; a lot of poor people have considered joining the military for healthcare (and other) benefits.

      but queerness is axiomatically incompatible with the US military.

      it sux, for ppl who were counting on it, that the option is gone. i’m sympathetic. but, like, fuck the pentagon.
