Feeling the hell the planet is becoming doesn’t mean feeling pleasure at the (near) deaths of people.

Nice strawman. Nobody died, not even nearly. People think its funny that the people propping up final stage capitalism are falling on their face. You can of course screech about it but it will not change the fact.

Nobody’s screeching. I wanted to point out that not feeling joy at a potentially fatal misfortune has nothing to do with privilege, which is what I understood your comment to imply.

You’re right, nobody died this time. Good news I guess.

Okay. In that case, let me point it out to you.

The sick and gruesome capitalist system kills an insane number of people every day.

The capitalist system in its current form is nothing but feudalism.

The young people who praise money and their feudal lords are active participants of this authoritarian rule. They actively participate in prolonging this sick game and therefore are guilty of the harm it does.

The fact that they charter yachts, one of the most sick and insane ways to show off wealth while people are dying around them is disgusting.

It is therefore more than understandable that, in this case where nobody died, some people will see this as a positive message.

If it requires this many paragraphs of mental gymnastics to explain, maybe it’s not as uplifting as you think is is. Nobody else here seems to be as insistently obtuse on this issue as you.

I get all that, but I don’t understand how privilege comes into it.

You’re describing schadenfreude, which I’m not expressing any judgement on. But it’s reasonable for people, including myself, to not find schadenfreude uplifting and to question if an Uplifting News community is the right place for it.
