I want to be less angry, or in lieu of that, be able to manage that anger better. I’m mostly talking about social media here because in the real world I tend to not discuss politics or news. But I’m tired of the anger and then cringing and feeling like an idiot over something I said later when I light up a joint. As therapeutic as it is shitting on MAGAs and conservatives, I don’t think it’s healthy for me, considering how I feel about it later.
But here’s the catch 22. I don’t want to block all news and politics communities either because I’d like to stay informed. This place really needs multicommunities, so that you can categorise and only look at certain things at certain times. Beyond that, I just need to spend more time lurking in communities where I know everyone is just as angry as me and for the same reasons but where they don’t speak like sailors. And maybe some of that level headedness will rub off on me.
All that said, I would also like to put a list of short term goals out there:
Be less angry / hostile, be a nicer person
Somehow come up with the funds to get an education in something
Work on a Sonic fangame and maybe some free programming courses in my free time instead of just playing games and making lists

I’m way too burnt out irl to be that angry anymore ;')

Same. I like shitting on people with [particular] bad political takes (zionism, genocide backing, MAGA etc) but i hate getting into arguments with those people later. Especially since some of those takes are common, i’m just getting into a bar fight where i’m outnumbered lol.
Be less angry / hostile, be a nicer person
Good goal. I’m not the most angry or hostile person, but i avoid social interaction and i feel incredibly lonely (personal issues). I’d like to get better social skills and meet people.

I gotta start programming again… I haven’t in months because i’m burnt out/can’t focus on it. I hope i can start later.
Drop bad habits, pick up good habits
Exactly, it’s so hard ;-; Personally, i’d like to eat healthier and start cutting out unethical companies as much as possible. It aint much but it’s something
but i hate getting into arguments with those people later
For me it’s not so much the arguing that gets to me. In fact I stopped feeling like it’s a duty to respond to things that I don’t want to respond to a while ago. So if someone wants to argue some MAGA shit, I’ll probably just ignore. And if they’re too hard to ignore, I’ll probably just block.
What gets me is that it ends up making me a kinda bad person too. Feels good calling these people inbred idiots in the heat of the moment but really, I don’t want to be the kind of person that calls others inbred idiots. It makes me feel like a piece of shit later. Over all I think there’s probably better ways of expressing oneself than resorting to what is essentially calling people ‘retards’. Just not with those exact words. I’d rather be part of the solution than part of the problem.
Useful to refer to but kind of an awkward workaround if you’re not actually signed up on Piefed. I actually plan on signing up there some time, as an end user, they seem to constantly be working on great features that actual users can see and notice and I like that. Just waiting for some decent app choices for it.

That’s pretty much me. If you look at my social media usage, you would think that I’m a talkative, confrontational person but in the real world, I spend most of my life smiling and waving. And waiting for the conversation to be done so that I can get back home lol.
