Pretty much the title. It’s really weird to scratch my chin and not run my fingers through hair. As a plus, my five year old keeps telling me “you look like a completely different person. But I still know you’re my daddy!”

Some kids absolutely freak out about big visual changes in a parent, so it sounds like that’s the best reaction you could have hoped for!
I haven’t shaved off the beard since the pandemic, but I did trim it (and my hair) when the kid was young…er. The kid literally didn’t even notice. Their mother even tried to direct their attention to my fact and the kid didn’t notice a difference.
I’ve self diagnosed as face blind, so maybe they inherited that.
Nicer that way than the emotional scarring from when my dad surprised us by shaving one side of it off before coming down for breakfast.
My older brothers apparently screamed and cried when our dad shaved his mustache when they were little.
