I couldn’t sleep last night and ended up stumbling into some wrestling YouTube drama that I spent too much time looking into. Most of this was written well past my bedtime, with the rest written today, after not getting enough sleep, so sorry if it seems like the ramblings of a madman.
YouTube suggested this video to me, where it seems like Adam Blampied has started a new channel. Last I heard of him he was with WrestleTalk and No Rolls Barred. I don’t follow either of those channels so I figured I’d look into what was going on and share what I found here.
In case anyone doesn’t know, Adam Blampied started off on WhatCulture Wrestling. He was arguably the biggest name on the channel until he and a small group left in 2017 to start Cultaholic. Shortly before the channel’s launch he faced multiple allegations of trying to get fans to send him pics. He admitted to the claims, said he was getting help, and parted ways with the channel.
He resurfaced in early 2020 on a WrestleTalk video and soon became a regular on the channel. In late 2020 he launched what would become No Rolls Barred, a board gaming channel, and was also involved with partsFUNknown, a channel that covered wrestling and video games.
In 2023 he was placed on leave after new allegations came out that he returned to his old ways, and he eventually parted ways with those channels. He admitted to cheating on his partner with his accuser, but denied the actual allegations. He also has someone backing up at least part of his story. Even though this video has a clickbaity title, it goes into the details and seems like a decent overview of what happened.
That brings us back to where I started, with Blampied starting a new YouTube channel, BlampCo!, about wrestling and board games. He’s also been joined by someone he worked with on No Rolls Barred. Looking into it, the fan reaction seems positive, and she’s a woman, so hopefully that’s a good sign.
Maybe I’m just being optimistic, but I’m willing to give him another chance and hope the new channel does well. I also totally understand if people don’t want anything to do with him. Either way, I should probably go eat dinner so I can fall asleep watching Dynamite.
Honestly, I’m big on second chances, but not so big on thirds. Without clear evidence that he’s working on himself, I’m done with him.
That’s totally fair. For what it’s worth, I remember one of the Cultaholic guys saying Blampied was in counseling during a live stream. That was probably a few years ago now so who knows if he still is. I will say, l this is the last chance I’m willing to give him.
