I’m sure everyone has seen numerous posts and comments asking, “Why aren’t people protesting?” Every time one of these posts or comments show up, people respond by saying that Americans don’t have time because they work a lot, they’re scared of being arrested and disappeared, not enough people care, the US is too spread out, etc.

Stop doing that and just point out that they are. Edit: and show them examples. People are protesting, and the size of the protests is growing with time. There might not be as much coverage of the protests in mainstream news as there used to be, but there are plenty of Reddit posts, posts on other social media, local news coverage, and some mainstream news coverage of the various protests that are happening. Hell, even Elmo has been bitching about protests at his dealerships. And I’m sorry, but there’s no excuse for asking, “Why aren’t people protesting?” in subs like this one, when there are posts covering a bunch of recent protests.

If you’re playing defense, you’re losing. Stop playing defense.

The majority of those people are equally unwilling to travel the necessary equivalent to the problem. if the French had to burn down Warsaw they’d also be slow to rise to it, which is the reality of the distance of travel necessary for most people to get to the US capital. The million man march was announced months before it happened. Just like the ones are now. In case you plan to show up, the first major protest is scheduled for next week on the 5th. (you can! no real excuse not to tbh. Idk where you live but statistically you’re twice as close to our capital as someone from California and Trump’s behavior absolutely affects you too so come on over! We’ll take all the help we can get!)

You don’t have to go to Washington DC to protest, though, there are more than enough metropolitan areas with large populations in the US who could have their own massive protests, but they (currently) don’t. Hopefully you are right and people just need more time to organize, but I’m not persuaded yet

I’m going to People’s Veto Day! It will be an 8 hour bus ride there. I was worried our bus would be cancelled but we managed to find people to go!

My dad is going with me. I feel kind of guilty about that because he is going mainly because he wants me safe.
