My idea for that is a gun with a very long barrel so that it’s very difficult to touch the trigger and be in the danger zone (of the gun) at the same time.
This probably won’t work for anyone with drive to follow through. Twine will work just fine to actuate the fiddly bits if you’re operating from the business end.
Yeah, it protects against intrusive thoughts (motor skills, what if I point the gun where I really shouldn’t?) but not against prolonged intent (let’s override safety measures and cause self harm with this biiig gun).
