Basically the title. There are other privacy focused+free search engines, such as duckduckgo, startpage and brave search. What makes Kagi worth the $10/month?

      TLDR:

      • Spent a third of their initial funding on buying a small clothing factory to give away free shirts to the first 20k subscribers (Noble act from them imo, but financially irresponsible to buy a factory for this)
      • Didn’t pay taxes in the first 2 years (Apparently under 1000 users they don’t need to do taxes or sm and haven’t expected 20k users)
      • CEO (Vlad) thinks AI can give you unbiased reviews
      • Author finds AI tools bullshit and Kagi is doing and planning a lot of AI related stuffs
      • CEO is very opinionated and thinks that difference in opinions are “misunderstandings”
      • CEO personally writes emails to unsubscribed people about why they have left
      • Doesn’t have GDPR cause CEO thinks email isn’t a personally identifiable information

Probably I have forgot some stuff, but this is the gist of it for me.

Thx for sharing. I do (happily) use Kagi as already stated in my other comment but I’m always willing to be more informed.
