I’d argue that Twitter is the most disturbing part. Imagine being a furry who still uses Twitter. What the fuck has to have gone wrong in your life to still be using Twitter as a furry?

the biggest flaw with lemmy is that none of yall can conceptualize how difficult it is to convince your entire friend group to migrate platforms

the furry community on twitter is and almost always has been massive. (edit: i think i was corrected by an actual member of the community below, im slightly misinformed here) nothing went wrong—things just haven’t gone right yet to get them to transfer like journalists and activists have.

Interesting! I actually didn’t know the previous state—I am simply just aware that furry Twitter is still huge currently, despite the transition.

Do you think there is hope for a second wave? Or are the laggards beyond hope, from your perspective?

Eh, a lot of them are probably mirroring their posts to Twitter. They’ll probably be there until someone forces them off. The ones who haven’t migrated or started to migrating are kinda probably “beyond hope”.

Y’all we need to make invite codes on mastodon and people might actually join and use it.

              • You just need to make it easier to use. I considered mastodon early on, but everyone moved to bluesky because it was simple, easy, and basically just like Twitter with the promise of using a federated protocol sometime in the future. So that’s where I ended up. Not that I use microblogging sites very much, but that’s why I have a bluesky account and not a mastodon one.

Nope, I knew people who complained about how they couldn’t find each other on mastodon. Y’all severely overestimate how much effort people want to put into their social networks. Most people have way higher priorities. If you can trip over the bar, then the bar is too high.
