    As evidenced by US citizens unwillingness to describe themselves as immigrants, instead using the moniker “expatriate” even though they’re immigrating to another country.

    Immigrant has always been a racial slur.

      I think technically Ex-pat means they intend to go back to their home country, immigrant they intend to stay in the new country.

        if that’s the case, why are white rich british people retiring in the french countryside called expats, but temporary foreign workers aren’t?

          Technically that’s what I’ve heard it means. But yes we all know that it’s white people that use the term because they don’t want to call themselves immigrants.
